At Surface Art we are certain that you will find the tile that will allow you to Define Your Home. We saw a challenge in the retail market and with every challenge comes an opportunity. How can the complexity and scope of the tile industry be simplified and how can we form lasting business relationships with our partners? Using our cutting edge in-house merchandising systems, deep sourcing expertise, unique distribution model, and love of technology we sought to form a company that allows our showroom partners to thrive.

Purchasing tile may only be a small portion of all the decisions that go into a building project but that doesn’t mean we can’t obsess over it. We love tile and that is why we inventory over 3700 types. We also distribute numerous other tile related products in our accessory line. 2001 -
Surface Art and Benissimo Systems was founded. Surface Art began by stocking 90 types of tile
2002 -
Partners with CCA Global and Abbey Corporation as the Core Regional Supplier to reach their professional showrooms
2003 -
Surface Art moves into a 75,000 sf facility 
2005 -
The ultimate display is born
2006 -
Surface Art expands to 2500 products.
2007 -
Expansion into California and Nevada
2008 -
Over 4000 products are now stocked at our facility
2012 -
Expansion into Arizona and New Mexico
2015 -
Third facility brings Surface Art’s HQ to 120,000sf. Enhanced website is launched

Mike Stupfel

President / Creative Director

Mike is not only the founder of Surface Art, but also carries the torch of being the head of creative development. He has been in the industry since 1973 and has loved every day of it. He believes Surface Art’s employees are the company’s most important asset because of their care and concern for the customer. Mike considers all of Surface Art’s customers his friends and loves interacting with them. He is often heard saying “the tile industry is limitless, and there is no end to the creativity that we can experience.”
He enjoys golf, fishing, hunting, and snow skiing.

Brad Stevens

Vice President of Operations

Brad is responsible for all areas of the operation including distribution, logistics, customer service, merchandising production, personnel, inventory management and sales support. He leads the operations team with a strong commitment to providing best-in-class service to customers and vendors throughout the world. Brad has spent over 25 years in the transportation and logistics industry in both senior operations and sales management. Brad enjoys the outdoors, skiing, hiking, mountain biking in Montana and spending time with his wife and two daughters. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Idaho State University in Business Management Labor Relations.

Kevin Stupfel

Vice President of Sales 

Kevin is responsible for all top line revenue for the company and has been with Surface Art since 2007. He manages the outside sales organization as well as company marketing initiatives. Along with the creative director he travels the world in search for the best possible tile for your home. Kevin is a 12 year Army Reserve Veteran with one deployment to Afghanistan. He enjoys reading, singing karaoke, and spending time with his family. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Washington University and an MBA from University California Davis.

Paul Weseman


Paul is responsible for oversight of the accounting and reporting activities of the company. Prior to coming on board with Surface Art in 2012, Paul worked in public accounting for six years providing auditing, accounting, and taxation services to clients in a variety of industries. He enjoys traveling, cycling, and spending time with friends and family. He is a certified public accountant as well as a certified management accountant, and has an MBA with specialization in finance from Northeastern University.

Ginny Newman

HR/Payroll Manager

Ginny is responsible for maintaining and managing the complete HR life cycle and all the payroll functions for the company. Ginny has 26 years experience in the accounting, payroll and HR fields and has been with Surface Art since 2007. She enjoys home remodeling projects, training for 5k and 12k runs, gardening, cooking special meals for family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren. She has an Associate degree in accounting and has been a Certified Payroll Professional for the past 12 years.
